Major update in the Fleet Portal

After a long period of preparation, the switch to the new back-end took place last week. The back-end is the organizational center in the background of the Fleet system.

The changeover to the new, in-house back-end became necessary due to the rapid increase in the number of devices connected to Fleet, currently at 6320 Fleet boxes. As a Fleet user, you don't see much of this, but you can feel the increased performance. At the same time, innovations in the front-end were also released. The front-end is the part you interact with.

For you, this means in concrete terms:

  • The search bar has been improved and extended with all vehicle groups' exact list.
  • The day view in the reservation can be flexibly shifted over several days.
  • The current vehicle location is displayed in the calendar.
  • The information in the vehicle details has been extended.
  • Switching to another company is integrated with the company logo and contains a separate search.
  • Many small detail improvements and bug fixes such as improved map navigation on Apple products

With the increasing Internet crime, data protection and the protection of the "login" vulnerability are becoming more important. Since the update, Fleet's login procedure complies with the latest standards. This innovation was the reason why you were prompted by email to re-register. The system now supports 2-factor authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO). With SSO, a user can log into Fleet with an existing company login from Office365, for example. There is no need to maintain the password on Fleet. Any company using Fleet can also transfer their internal password rules to Fleet, and users only have to remember one login at the company.

I'm sure you've been asked in your personal internet use, "Log in with Google or Facebook?" That's exactly what SSO is. We'll explain exactly how it works in an upcoming issue.

Test bench "MadMax" for the new two-arm fork of the KYBURZ DXP

The functional sample of the new two-arm fork for the KYBURZ DXP for Australia has been assembled and must now be put through its paces. You will certainly be interested in how this is tested. There is a separate test bench for this purpose. This test bench was developed and extended by Alex Fässler, Martin Mathis, and Erik Wilhelm. It consists completely of 2ndLife parts. A speed of 15 km/h is possible, and obstacles up to 7 cm high can be attached to the drum. It is battery powered and requires two chargers to provide enough operation power. The batteries are always charged. To allow extreme tests to be carried out, the test stand has been reinforced so that the DXP could have an overload of up to 700 kg. The test stand is located in Embrach on Industriestrasse. Testing the twin-arm fork is expected to run until the end of February. In the future, the transmission, recuperation, magnetic brake, emergency brake, recu-limitation module, and other components can also be tested there.

Do you have questions about the test bench? Erik Wilhelm will be happy to answer your questions.

eTrolley Race – how do I make a good coffee?

I'm sure many people have already seen the Race Bar in the showroom. But how does the coffee machine work? Fabienne Senn and Jasmin Giger investigated this question. The result is a short video. Dare to make your customers, business partners, or interested parties a fair coffee at the Race-Bar.

Here are the most important steps for a successful coffee:

  • set the grinder to the intensity of the beans
  • then press the "play" button
  • select on the coffee machine whether you want to make a short or a long coffee
  • empty the coffee grounds after each use and make sure the device is clean for the next user :-)

You have questions or are interested in this eTrolley? Luca Botta will be happy to answer them.

Object of the week: Tires Heidenau K82

For years KYBURZ bought tires on the market, originally made for mopeds. With the introduction of the DXP, the quantities increased, and the requirements: Narrow rim, wide contact patch, coarse tread with sipes, reinforced sidewalls, mileage, etc. Large international tire manufacturers waved the order off, considering it too insignificant.

The tire factory Heidenau in Saxony, which already supplied tires for the first DXPs (profile K66), developed a new tire especially for the requirements of KYBURZ: The "Heidenau 80/80-16 M/C 46J K82 E-Power DXP M+S." You will discover the DXP designation even on the tire if you look closely.

A report about Heidenau and the DXP tires' production appeared in KYBURZ Magazine 2017.
You can find it digitally via this link

Creation of a box for the Austrian Post.

Within the framework of the WTO tender of the Austrian Post, we had to find a transport container (box) that optimally meets their needs. As information, we received a picture of their depot bags and the dimensions. The wish was to transport at least 12 of these bags. In the following, we made small "depot bag models" out of cardboard according to the given masses and made a short film about the different loading combinations with DXP, DXC, and the various trailers. With trailers, the task would have been easy to solve. You can see that in the film. Unfortunately, however, the "trailer" proposal was rejected, and we had to go back over the books.

The Austrian Post suggested that we slightly adapt the CH box and offer them a variant with 20 depot pockets on one vehicle. Unfortunately, this would have been much too wide, and the vehicle would no longer have received road approval. Starting with a principle sketch and with the active support of our 'Berner-Entwicklungsbüro,' we then successfully developed and offered a prototype of a box of the ePedelec to a proposal for a DXCargo with the targeted 20 depot pockets. In parallel, we designed a variant for 2ndLife vehicles with 8 pockets. In this way, we offered the interested party a solution for his need in the shortest possible time.

Tax return canton Zurich - Home office regulation

Most people have already received their tax return. If you often worked from home in 2020, you may be wondering how to declare this in your tax return.

Zurich's canton has decided that it will not allow any "corona-related" home office expenses. Instead, you can claim your professional expenses as usual. This means travel expenses (car, public transport, or bicycle), food expenses, flat-rate professional expenses (3% of professional expenses, min. 2000 max. 4000), and further education expenses.

If you do not live in Zurich's canton, it is best to ask your cantonal tax office.

Slovenian Post relies on KYBURZ

Pošta Slovenia's fleet consists of about 3,000 vehicles of various types. The Slovenian postal group has been more active in electrifying its fleet over the past three years. Their strategy is that electromobility should be a matter of social responsibility and meet quality standards and pay off economically. Therefore, they have focused on purchasing different types of light electric vehicles. In addition to the vehicles themselves, Pošta Slovenia has very high requirements for service and maintenance of the e-vehicles, which would make it impossible to operate on the Slovenian market without our local partners.
After successful test runs, KYBURZ managed to deliver 20 DXPs and 10 trolleys to Pošta, Slovenia. KYBURZ DXPs mainly replace existing bicycles and scooters. The number is expected to increase significantly as KYBURZ vehicles meet Pošta Slovenia's expectations regarding quality, service and maintenance, cost efficiency, and customer care.

11.02.2021, MJ

Do you have any questions? Martin Jerg will be happy to provide you with information.

Good to know:

Martin Jerg has been in very close contact with the Slovenian Post since 2019. This is how the purchase of the first DXP and eTrolleys came about. Our service partners D2S and Prigo support us with delivery and maintenance work directly in Slovenia. The Slovenian Post is planning a larger tender this year. We are curious to see how it will go.

Service interns

We regularly host interns in the service department who gain mechanical operations experience for their studies. This time Miriam Binder and Julien Poffet were with us for 5 weeks and actively supported the service department. During their service department assignment, they were not spared and were allowed to experience everything from chassis changes to service tours on site. The two budding mechanical engineers carried out all the work independently as a team and supported.

Like every time, I come up with something to teach them how to use the flex and the welding machine to see the result for a long time and benefit from it. This time I gave the interns the task of making a table for the break room.

Task:

Here is a chassis and a glass top... makes a table... go :-)
I left it up to them how the table should look. The only thing that should be visible was the technology of the DXP.
Within 2 days, they flexed, welded, and painted a designer table from a rusted 2ndLife chassis.

The result is impressive... the table fits fantastically into the break room.

BEMOTEC GmbH

KYBURZ sales partner

The company BEMOTEC GmbH is located in Reutlingen (DE) and has been successfully distributing our KYBURZ products in Germany since 2017. To offer their customers the best possible solution, they manufacture special attachments themselves. Fabienne Senn asked Ben Ludwig from BEMOTEC GmbH a few questions.

Fabienne Senn: How would you describe the company BEMOTEC in 3 sentences?

Ben Ludwig: The company BEMOTEC is a family-run medium-sized enterprise. It is dedicated to the individual solution of customer problems. This includes increasing the mobility of people, increasing companies' capacity, or optimizing processes.

Fabienne: What distinguishes your company, what is unique about you?

Ben: We have consulting, design, and production under one roof. The paths are short, and the results are quickly visible.

Fabienne: How long have you been KYBURZ distributors?

Ben: We have been a KYBURZ sales partner since the end of 2017.

Fabienne: How did you guys get into building custom products like this?

Ben: Our customers expect customized solutions. Almost every one of our customers has had requests that we have been happy to realize for them.

Fabienne: In which geographical area do you operate?

Ben: We are active all over Germany and partly already in Europe.

Fabienne: What do you do when you are not distributing KYBURZ vehicles?

Ben: We build, for example, a unique electric rollator (beactive+e), assistance systems for people with handicaps, devices, and automation as an ITEM-Pluspartner, assemble subassemblies for partner companies, or medical devices according to the strict requirements of DIN EN ISO 13485:2016.

DXS 2ndLife Ali's Custom Bike

Perhaps the coolest KYBURZ vehicle.

Especially for the Swiss-Moto 2019, Ali Shabani has designed and completely rebuilt this vehicle. The primary vehicle is a KYBURZ DXS 2ndLife. His biggest challenge was to make all components work well together. We think he succeeded perfectly.

15.02.2021, JAG

Want to learn more about the custom bike? There was a report about it in last year's KYBURZ magazine.

Do you have questions about the custom bike? Then feel free to contact Ali.

Technical specifications:

Max. Speed 45 km/h
Climbing side 30%

Good to know:

Ali Shabani has been working for KYBURZ Switzerland AG in the service team for over 10 years. He has a lot of professional experience and knows the vehicles inside out. His message: "Electric vehicles can also be 'cool.' A tricycle can turn into much more than you think."

KYBURZ in the media

On February 5, an excellent article about KYBURZ appeared on the second page in the Zürcher Unterländer with a note on the front page. Fabian Boller reports about the PLUS II autonomous, called Nina.

Other newspapers picked up the article. It also appeared in the Zürichsee-Zeitung, the Zürcher
Oberländer, in the Landboten and the Lindt-Zeitung. In total, it was printed about 73,000 times. We knew that this article appeared in the Zürcher Unterländer because Fabian Boller asked us for various information and sent a photographer over.

Hint:
In the Automobil Revue of February 18, KYBURZ is portrayed in a series about Swiss car manufacturers. The journalist is French-speaking, and the report appears in both the German- and French-language Revue Automobile.

A day in the life of Jennifer Häusler

Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?

Jennifer Häusler: I have been with KYBURZ since 01.04.2019.

Erza: What are your activities?

Jenny: I am responsible for telephone support for our partners. If you have questions about our vehicles' electronic problems, I help you find the error.
I test the broken parts that our partners return, and if possible, I repair them or send them back to the manufacturer.
I also make cables for production from time to time. I am also responsible for superior conversions, such as a handlebar with the all-left operation.
Besides, I also take on tasks from development such as the cable drawings or contact with the charger or throttle grip manufacturers.

Erza: What is your typical daily routine?

Jenny: I always get up at 06.00 and go for a 30-45 min walk with my dog Leya. I then arrive at work at about 07.45. First, I look at what is coming up for today, though I usually figure it out the night before. At the moment, it is more the development tasks. I do the testing of defective parts or the production of cables on the side. When the phone rings, I interrupt my work and take care of the partner's problem. Sometimes, after the phone rings, I don't remember what I was working on before, then I move on to something else. During the lunch break, I go for a walk with Leya for 30 minutes to switch off and get some fresh air. This helps me to concentrate well in the afternoon. At about 5:15 p.m., I call it a day and go for another walk with Leya or train with her 3 times a week, depending on the situation.

Erza: What do you like? What do you want less?

Jenny: I like that I have a lot of variety and help people through telephone support or internally.
I wouldn't say I like that it sometimes takes a long time to implement changes. By that, I mean, for example, changes to software together with the manufacturer.
I also miss the service team here in Embrach quite a bit.

Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?

Jenny: In my free time I like to do dog sports. Leya and I train in companion dog sports and Protection Service and pull dog sports. I recently signed up for another dog trainer course and am looking forward to attending the first seminars very soon.
When I am at home, I also like to make dog leashes and collars from different materials.
I also have a hobby garage where I work on my race car (Honda Integra Type-R) and drive it as soon as the races can retake.

Good to know:

TYPE 1 plug

The Type 1 plug is a single-phase plug that allows charging power of up to 7.4 kW (230 V, 32 A). The standard is mainly used in car models from the Asian region. It is relatively uncommon in Europe, so there are hardly any charging stations with a permanently attached type 1 charging cable.

TYPE 2 plug

The three-phase plug is the most widely used in Europe and has been established as the standard. In private areas, charging powers of up to 22 kW (400 V, 32 A) are common, while setting powers of up to 43 kW (400 V, 63 A) is possible at public charging stations. Most public charging stations are equipped with a Type 2 socket.

Vehicle make and type

The vehicles manufactured by KYBURZ Switzerland are registered in the vehicle registration document with the brand "Kyburz."

The type of vehicles we manufacture are designated as DX2, DXP, PAH, PLUS2, eRod, or the old DX and Classic. Also, internally in our database, "Pachi," the designation of the types, is led in such a way.

The vehicle version is indicated with a number. It shows the technical stage of development. Our development department assigns the vehicle version. For the PLUS, the current version is 2.4

Our production determines the model. It is a vehicle type with a particular series status and model-specific installed accessories.

Good to know:
KYBURZ DXP (45 km/h) is the vehicle type "small motorcycle-tricycle." Approximately 6800 vehicles were registered in this vehicle type in Switzerland at the end of 2019. The very largest part is DXPs. KYBURZ dominates the market for this type of vehicle in Switzerland.
