SRF Einstein films at KYBURZ
A television crew from SRF filmed the battery recycling in Freienstein. From the removal of the batteries to the disassembly into their individual components, cameraman Martin Amsler filmed all the processes. TV producer and journalist Sandra Odermatt asked competent questions in interviews with Yunus Ruff and Olivier Groux.
The filming for the approx. 5-minute feature, in which various staff members were involved, took over 6 hours. "Einstein", the knowledge programme on SRF1 is planning a programme entitled "Electric cars - where is the breakthrough?". The broadcast is planned for Thursday, 6 May at 9.05 pm.
"It was an intense day," said Olivier Groux. Sandra Odermatt was well prepared, "this gives a high-quality contribution". The atmosphere was pleasant and the two TV people didn't miss the opportunity to take a spin on the eRod at the end, despite the cold.

Research project: Autonomous vehicle in use for the visually impaired
The KYBURZ research team visited our service partner Garage Bürgler in Schwyz to test the use of KYBURZ autonomous vehicle technology: Marion, a member of the Bürgler family is severely visually impaired and lives about 2 km away from the bus stop. She is a piano teacher and has to go to Schwyz 4 times a week to teach. She does not have a driving licence, - but we believe that with the right combination of redundant sensors and intelligent control, we can help her reach the bus stop. If our project succeeds, it will allow Marion to increase independence in her mobility. We'll keep you posted on how this exciting research project develops.

Object of the week: Charging cable
It is so taken for granted that we don't give it a second thought: the charging cable. A commercial product that is also used for computers, televisions and other household appliances. For many customers, however, the question arises; how do I charge the vehicle?
KYBURZ vehicles can be plugged into any normal household socket (T12) with a few exceptions. On the vehicle side, a type C13 socket is fitted. The connection is known under the term "cold appliance cable". The black KYBURZ cables are designed for max. 10 A and have a polyurethane sheath. This material is particularly robust and will even survive being run over by a vehicle. This makes it particularly suitable for industrial applications.
For private customers, the cheaper standard charging cables are also available. The light-coloured cables are more visible in the poor light of a garage, especially for older people. However, these cables do not have an extra-robust protective polyurethane cover.
The use of KYBURZ vehicles in other countries is very simple. Appliance cables are available for a wide variety of sockets. The C13 plug on the vehicle always remains the same.

Reconditioning of used vehicles in the 2ndLife department
The 2nd Life team is now also applying its expertise to the reconditioning of used vehicles. In addition to delivery vehicles, passenger vehicles now also receive a professional overhaul in the shed.
"For our staff, the PLUS is an exciting change from the DXP and turns out to be a welcome challenge," says Luca Botta, the 2ndLife manager. Currently, service employee Frank Bell is training the future used car reconditioners. Zopfi explains the acceptance of the vehicles and introduces us to the processes in detail. Regarding the handover, Luca Botta says: "I already benefited from the experience of Zopfi and his team at the beginning of my 2nd Life career. We also have a profitable, pragmatic and solution-oriented cooperation with the service workshop in this new task!"

Test drive days - a good opportunity to try out our vehicles
Throughout the year, our test drive afternoons take place in many regions of Switzerland. In order to comply with the Corona protection measures, pre-registration by telephone or e-mail is necessary.
At the test drive afternoons, interested parties have the opportunity to get to know various KYBURZ electric vehicles at their leisure and to complete a test drive undisturbed under professional supervision. Questions are answered and helpful tips passed on. After each test drive, the vehicles are professionally disinfected.
Good to know:
Missed a test drive day? No problem, just get in touch with us. Tel. 044 865 63 63 and we can reserve an appointment for you at another test drive opportunity.

A day in the life of Fabien Caroselli
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Fabien Caroselli: 4 years this August.
Erza: What are your activities?
Fabien: I have 3 different jobs: Team leader of the new development department, project manager and technical manager of the eRod projects.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Fabien: I generally come to the office between 8 am and 8.30 am, read my emails and answer the emails that are important/urgent. Then I work on projects/tasks according to priority. Currently, I am mainly working on model maintenance issues of the DXC 1.1 and its evolution, the DXC 1.2. Thursday is my eRod day and on that day I spend time with eRod customers and sometimes work in the workshop.
Erza: What do you like? What not so much?
Fabien: I like the variety of my activities. One day I can be just in the office designing a part, the other day I can be in contact with customers doing troubleshooting and the next day I can be servicing an eRod or doing research on a DXC.
I find it difficult to work on the teething problems of the DXC 1.1 and its further development, the DXC 1.2, at the same time. But there is the possibility to identify a problem on a vehicle and already have a solution for this problem in its further development. I find that exciting.
Erza: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Fabien: I like to tinker with my vintage car, which I am restoring at the moment. It's a 1973 Alfa Romeo Giulia. It's a long-term project and hopefully, the car will be running in the summer of 2022!

After-Work-Skating
Recently they created action on the tank track in Kloten.
The enterprising ones: Dani, Abel and Rolf set off from Freienstein in their cars at 16.30 on Tuesday, 30.3.21. In Oberglatt at the "Flughafengrill Parkplatz", the inline skates were strapped on and off we went.
One round and about 70 minutes later, of course at a leisurely pace, the three were looking forward to a well-deserved fine ice cream.
They would be happy to do the leisurely sporty after-work round next time with the support of other KYBURZ employees. The next sporting event is being planned. If you are interested, please contact Rolf.
