The making of …
The first ten ePedelecs have been delivered to Deutsche Post. Time to sit back and relax will not be available for a long time. Spare parts for unexpected vehicle downtimes must be procured before the end of December. Above all, the manufacturing costs have to be "properly" reduced in view of an order that is hoped for in the spring of next year. Therefore, video conference calls were held on 1 December. We wanted to prove to the two German suppliers that our vehicle exists vital and that not only the Deutsche Post will be our only customer. Newly designed luggage boxes, which are still under development, should therefore be shown in a video to be created.
"Time to market" was the keyword for the timely creation of the video clip. The short film should show the production workshop, the use as a mail delivery service, but also the different possibilities of already existing superstructures to the viewer. Martin Schnelli had spontaneously agreed to appear as a mechanic in the workshop. Hans-Peter did not miss the opportunity to drive the vehicle through the streets of Freienstein with a little bit of pride so that Bruno (our video clip yard producer) could shoot impressive film shots. The fact that the modified "Australienbox" can also be used as a seat for spectacular film shots was really not in the development specifications.

Kickoff - new team
On December 1, 2020, Claudia, Diane, Lorena, and Philipp officially form a team. Lorena and Philipp take care of various projects such as Australia, Asia, Battery Storage, ELVITEN, Pachi 3, while Claudia and Diane take care of legal issues, contracts, tenders, regulatory issues regarding approvals, etc. After a first common arrangement in the team, we enjoyed a cozy lunch in the Rorboz. Integration of service electronics in the electronics competence center
The new electronics competence center was built on the Industriestrasse in Embrach. The competence center is managed by Daniel Schär.
As of 01.12.2020, the service electronics were also integrated there. Jennifer Häusler has moved to Industriestrasse and is now also part of the electronics competence center with the electronically related service work. The service electronics tasks were also transferred to the competence center.
The electronics 2nd level support can still be reached at 231 / 044 866 40 31 and via WhatsApp (079 827 40 86).

Object of the week: Heated gas handle
In addition to all tasks that "normal" gas handles also perform, heated gas handles have another function: warmth. Automatically regulated to 36.5° C, the energy consumption can be kept within limits.
The manufacturer "Domino Srl", who has been supplying the control units of KYBURZ vehicles for over 20 years, produces in Italy for practically all the well-known European motorcycle manufacturers. The heated throttle grips are manufactured according to our exact specifications. DUXON makes a modification of the potentiometer in the switch unit before installation at KYBURZ.
Vehicles for the Swiss Post have had heated throttle grips as standard since 2018. A retrofit kit also allows the retrofitting of many vehicle types. For more detailed information, please contact the service department.
The handle heating is more than comfort!
The heated gas handles allow you to work with the envelopes during letter delivery. Sorting the letters cannot be done with cooled, numb fingers.

Inventory managed service warehouse
The spare parts warehouse of the service department will be reorganized this week and at the same time, all parts will be counted. Afterward, this warehouse will be stocked.
Anyone can continue to fetch parts from this warehouse; these must always be booked out immediately. An iPad will be available at the service warehouse to check out the parts. All service mechanics are trained and can instruct you.

What is inventory management? This is a quantity-based inventory accounting. The stored raw materials, semi-finished and finished products are marked with unique article numbers, separated by type. Article numbers together with other attributes define the article master.
Fixboxanhänger (PAH-F)
Have you already seen our Fixbox trailer? The trailer allows a larger load volume than the PAH and can be pulled by the KYBURZ DXP or DXC.
The Fixbox trailer has a payload of up to 137 kg - in addition, the cargo area is protected from the weather. Due to the overrun brake a total weight of up to 200 kg. is possible.
Currently one of our Fixbox Trailers incl. KYBURZ DXP is in test operation for 3 months at Rickshaw Taxi in Basel (www.rikschataxi.ch). The vehicle and the trailer are equipped with our Fleet Management System. This enables Rickshaw Taxi to optimize the logistic processes. We are curious about the feedback.

WTO tender
I'm sure you've already noticed that we're applying for a tender. What is that actually, such a tender, what does it mean?
Institutions that spend public money on procurement and whose country is a member of the WTO (World Trade Organization or World Trade Organization www.wto.org) cannot simply buy what we want, as we as private individuals or as the company KYBURZ. Above a certain amount, these organizations (e.g. the federal government, the cantons, or the Letter Post Division of Swiss Post AG) are obliged to put their needs out to international tender. There are special portals for this purpose where such tenders are published (e.g. www.simap.ch). Every supplier from all over the world is allowed to submit its offer. Each offer must then be evaluated according to criteria defined and published in advance. The highest score then decides who will be awarded the contract and thus the contractor, depending on the tender, part of it. Such an invitation to tender is extremely complex and strictly regulated. Why all this? The system was introduced to prevent corruption. It is also intended to prevent discrimination against foreign partners. In the last tender of the Swiss Post in 2015, we submitted a federal folder full of documents. Today, some of these submissions can also be made electronically.
The GATT / WTO Agreement
The WTO Agreement on Government Procurement came into force on January 1, 1996. Its main principles are reciprocity, transparency in public tenders, non-discrimination against foreign subcontractors, and the creation of opportunities for efficient appeals. The agreement contains detailed information on the procedures to be applied in public tenders, the criteria to be observed in the selection of subcontractors, the use of technical specifications, and the deadlines to be met.
The WTO agreement applies to those states that have signed the agreement; i.e. 15 EU countries, the EFTA states, the USA, Canada, Japan, Israel, Singapore as well as Australia and affects approx. 80% of the worldwide procurement market. Contracts below the so-called threshold value are not affected, nor are the procurement of e.g. weapons, ammunition, or war material and the construction of combat and command and control infrastructure for the entire defense and armed forces.
We are currently working on a tender for the Austrian Post. We offer them different loading variants and vehicle combinations. We have already received the next tender of the Swiss Post - there is a lot of work waiting for us!

We would like to congratulate Filloreta Gecaj on the successful completion of her studies as a Swiss federal diploma assistant to the director.
Fillo has been Martin Kyburz's assistant since April 2019. With her commercial training and several years of experience in sales, she brought a good foundation for her new job. The theoretical training as an assistant to the management has further enhanced her practical knowledge. Fillo has good knowledge in accounting, administration, and business management. In the course of this training, she also obtained the Higher Business Diploma and the BEC Vantage Certificate.

Vitamin D - what you should know
Vitamin D can be produced by the body itself with the help of sunlight. Only a small part of the requirement, 10 to 20 percent, is absorbed through food.
Vitamin D deficiency occurs mainly in winter. If the vitamin D level is too low, symptoms such as tiredness, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, sleep disorders, or cold symptoms occur.
Is it sensible to take vitamin D? Yes in any case! Almost all of us in our latitudes have too low vitamin D levels in winter. Vitamin D is particularly important for supporting the immune system. If you want to know exactly, you can have your vitamin D level measured by a doctor or pharmacist.
Vitamin D-rich foods are: Eel, herring, trout, salmon, oysters, tuna, avocado, mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, eggs
Where can I get vitamin D? At the doctor, pharmacies, or drugstores
How does vitamin D deficiency affect the psyche? Vitamin D has a positive effect on mood. It influences the production of messenger substances dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline, which regulate our mood and activity. If there is too little vitamin D, the adrenal glands release more of the above-mentioned messenger substances, which can lead to exhaustion and tiredness.

Sunrise has launched a new advertising campaign. They currently advertise with so-called testimonials. In this case the Swiss Post. The autonomous eT IV (Regula) was presented in a commercial by sevensense, our provider for optical localization. Regula can load and unload its cargo autonomously from its platform. This saves costs and increases efficiency. We wish sevensense much success with their excellent localization systems and are looking forward to future cooperation.

The diagnostic tool of KYBURZ Fleet
Even the vehicles of the best manufacturers - and here we include KYBURZ - can cause problems. Especially in the mailroom, a quick diagnosis is important.
The diagnostic tool from KYBURZ Fleet enables detailed analysis of trips and vehicle parameters. All variables recorded by the Fleet-Box, such as speed, energy consumption, current, battery charge level, battery and engine temperature, or error codes can be displayed synchronously on the map, as line graphics, and in tabular form. Error patterns that are not directly visible on the vehicle can be immediately identified in the line graphic as a typical pattern.
The point in time when an error or a special feature occurred can be checked exactly and compared with other data such as battery charge level or driving style.

Four eTrolleys for testing in Australia
Before Christmas, four KYBURZ eTrolleys will be helping Australia Post in Sydney with delivery. The eTrolleys with the body as used in Finland (twice with side doors / twice without side doors) will be used in a test.
The trolleys travel by airfreight to Australia, where the KYBURZ branch in Melbourne ensures that they are sprayed in Australia Post's corporate color.
The Australian Post has already tested various electric trolleys from other manufacturers. However, we are convinced that the easy handling, functionality, and robustness of KYBURZ products will convince even down under.

A day in the life of Isuf Hoxha
Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Isuf Hoxha: I have been with KYBURZ for over 25 years.
Erza: What are your activities?
Isuf: I was the workshop manager at KYBURZ for a long time. But almost a year ago, it was reorganized because it became too much. Now I work in production and am the head of pre-assembly. I am also the deputy for the production line.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Isuf: I always start work at about 07.00 o'clock. I am also responsible for dividing the work for the employees. I ensure the quality of the pre-assembly and support my employees wherever I can. I also help them with any problems or difficulties they may have. In the evening I check on the iPad what I have done and then release the order. The warehouse staff then bring the material for the next pre-assembly. At about 17.30 I then go home.
Erza: What do you like? What do you like less?
Isuf: I especially like the team and cooperation. There is nothing negative, I am satisfied with everything.
Erza: What do you like doing in your free time?
Isuf: In my free time I like to be with my family and often go to watch a match with my son. I am also in a shooting club.
Erza: Can you tell us more about the shooting club?
Isuf: I have been in the shooting club in Teufen for over 10 years. There I shoot mainly with an assault rifles and pistols.

Turis mobile Werkbank
You probably know this mobile workbench. You have probably walked past it a thousand times or maybe you have already borrowed or deposited something. Exactly, this is Turi's faithful companion. It makes your day easier when it comes to maintaining the infrastructure, can be moved from one building to another easily and without any effort, and always has all the necessary tools on board.
This eTrolley was originally built for the service mechanics and was used by Joel Stanzione and Flurin Vicentini. Afterward, the eTrolley went on to Turi. The service department has now built a new model for service mechanics.
Today, Turi can no longer imagine being without it. So that others can also benefit from this ingenious invention, this eTrolley will also appear in the revised brochure.

Lighting in the showroom
Surely you have already noticed: In our showroom, the sky is full of umbrellas. What helps to keep the rain away from the carrier in the outdoor area, helps us in the showroom to distribute the light evenly over the exhibits. Also, all our vehicles that are in the showroom were put in the right light. Ali's Custom Bike now looks even more impressive.
All the light is controlled by the mixing desk. Slide the knob up on the left and you have light. Push it down and it is dark. You have many more possibilities. Let the 2ndLife-Team explain them to you.

Our importer in Japan
Did you know that we have a partner company in Japan?
Mr. Koichi is our contact person for Eventas Co, Ltd. They have already bought KYBURZ DXS 2ndLife and there are still a lot of things in planning: Eventas is for example interested in Ali's Custom Bike (KYBURZ DXS) and the KYBURZ DX2 with wide rear wheels and double LED lights in the front.
A successful promotional film about the KYBURZ DXS has been created. The film was shot in Yokohama - a popular city near Tokyo. A showroom is also to be set up there. We are very proud to have such a partner in Japan and are happy to receive feedback.
