Photo of the week: photoshoot in the snow
At the photoshoot in the first week of January, our models Maya Hug and Michael von Büren were able to see for themselves that KYBURZ's senior vehicles are definitely suitable for winter use.

KYBURZ battery recycling at 3Sat
At the end of November, the TV station 3Sat visited us to make a report about our battery recycling system. We reported on it in week 49. The report was broadcasted last Wednesday on 3Sat. Not only is it great that we got airtime on 3Sat, but the feature turned out fantastic.

Home office
Each office must be occupied by at least 1 person. The others are free to work in the company or at home. Consult with your supervisor and your team.
If there is more than 1 person in the office, the mask obligation applies. Everyone is responsible for compliance.
Workshop
More than 1 person means mask obligation. Everyone is responsible for compliance. If someone is bothered by the fact that his colleague is not wearing a mask, he consistently keeps more than 2m distance from him.
Meetings
The meeting leader decides whether the meeting takes place on-site or virtually. Participants are free to participate virtually or physically. If a session with the masks becomes difficult, it will take place in the open air. There is no mask requirement.
Driving
From two persons the mask duty is valid also in the car.
Protective masks
Disposable masks are still available. In addition, everyone may purchase a maximum of 3 cloth masks from the Corona team. Details can be found under the article protective masks.
General

Fabric masks for employees
All employees have the opportunity to order 3 cloth masks from the Corona team. The costs will be covered by the company. We will mail you an order form in the course of the next few days with the fabric mask model we have chosen for the whole company.

Good to know
A protective mask does not protect the wearer from airborne aerosols but protects the environment from any pathogens that the wearer would spread. It also protects the wearer from droplet infections from other people's saliva and from infections via the oral or nasal mucosa through touch.
Object of the week: The potentiometer
Probably all KYBURZ employees have heard of the "potentiometer". The potentiometer is an electrical component: a variable resistor. Installed in the throttle grip, it converts the mechanical position of the throttle grip into an electrical signal (lower or higher voltage).
The ladder plastic potentiometer installed on KYBURZ vehicles changes its resistance between 0 and 5 kΩ (kiloohms). The voltage of 5 V (volts) is converted into a signal voltage of 0 to 5 V (volts). The vehicle's central control system regulates the vehicle's traction current based on this voltage.
KYBURZ places high demands on reliability. The control units of the Italian manufacturer Domino are fitted with potentiometers of the Swiss company Resenso at DUXON. The manufacturer guarantees 5,000,000 cycles (opening and closing the throttle). The installed potentiometers are installed in all our vehicle types with throttle grip.
Good to know:
The potentiometer was invented in 1841 and is used in many electrical devices. For example also in the rotary head for volume control of a radio.

Reduction of the minimum age for new DXP drivers to 15 years old.
The vehicles KYBURZ DXP and DXC are re-classified as "small motorcycle tricycle". For driving these vehicles the driving license category A1 (or A) is necessary.
Newly, the driving license cat. A1 can be obtained from the age of 15 years. For drivers of vehicles at the age of 15, the following additional restrictions apply Engine capacity ≤ 50 ccm, rated power ≤ 4 kW, speed ≤ 45 km/h. KYBURZ DXP and DXC meet these requirements.

Handover of service management in Australia
Joshua Huston has officially taken over the management of our service office in Australia from Joel Stanzione as of 01.01.2021. In this function, he is responsible for the personnel, the finances (turnover, costs, profit, etc.) as well as the infrastructure of KYBURZ PTY LTD. His mission is to maintain and develop the service network with the aim of providing the Australian Postal Service with optimal service for our vehicles. In addition to the service partners, our KYBURZ Fleet Management System also plays a key role. Thanks to our Fleet, his team can call up the current technical status as well as the location of the vehicles in real-time. In the event of a problem, an initial remote diagnosis can thus be made easily and quickly.
Joel will return to Switzerland after 2 ½ years in this position. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Joel for his commitment to KYBURZ in Australia and at the same time wish Josh much success, joy, and fulfillment in his new task.

With the new year, five new employees have joined KYBURZ. We are pleased about the new forces and welcome them warmly. They will certainly get the necessary support and introduction from all the "old hands".
For one month, two students from ETH are gaining practical experience in the service department.

The optimal indoor climate in the office
Well-being at the office workplace depends on many factors. We spend 90% of our lives indoors. A poor indoor climate affects health, productivity, and the ability to concentrate.
Here are the most important guidelines for a good indoor climate:

20 to 23 degrees Celsius
Recommended room humidity:
between 30% and 65
Recommended room air quality:
400 ppm up to a maximum of 1,300 ppm
Recommended volume:
Average not over 55 dB in the office
Room sensors NETATMO
In December, Valeria Frighetto set up room sensors from NETATMO (www.netatmo.com) in some offices and installed the app for monitoring with one employee per office. In the app, the temperature, humidity, air quality, and noise in the room can be checked. Valeria Frighetto and Lilian Stillhart will be happy to help with any questions you may have about using the app.
Pay attention to the air in the office and ventilate regularly. Especially nowadays it is an important measure.

KYBURZ ASSISTANCE
KYBURZ vehicles are known for their reliability. However, many customers are driving an electric vehicle for the first time in their lives. To offer them even more safety, KYBURZ ASSISTANCE is now included in all vehicles for private individuals.
In the event of a breakdown, whether a technical defect, flat batteries, or flat tires, we are there for the customer. They can call around the clock on 044 866 22 66. Their vehicle will be picked up and brought to his home. The KYBURZ service team will then contact the customer to discuss the further procedure.
KYBURZ ASSISTANCE is free of charge and cannot be purchased separately. It is activated for 12 months for vehicles purchased from KYBURZ (used and new vehicles). It is extended by 12 months each time the service is performed by KYBURZ.
Existing customers who also wish to benefit from the ASSISTANCE can easily activate it by having a service performed by KYBURZ.

Erza Mehmeti: How long have you been with KYBURZ?
Isabelle Bassin: I have been with KYBURZ since 10/24/2017.
Erza: What are your activities?
Isabelle: I work in the service department, connecting western and German-speaking Switzerland. I take care of all the phone calls in French-speaking Switzerland (044 866 40 33). I am also responsible for various translations in French. I also support our technician, Jad Hafez, and contact private customers.
Erza: What is your typical daily routine?
Isabelle: From 08.00-12.00 and from 13.30-17.00 I answer the phone as part of the team. I check the translations of the documents in French. If a service partner has a problem and can't solve it, I look for help in the workshop to solve it. Or if they can't find an item they want in the web store, I look it up with the web store.
Erza: What do you like about your job?
Isabelle: Time goes by very fast, it's very exciting and versatile.
Erza: What do you like to do in your free time?
Isabelle: I regularly travel to the Valais and like to go hiking. I also like to spend time with my family. And I also give French lessons and tutoring.

On our website, there is a possibility to rent online KYBURZ vehicles. We offer these vehicles: DX/Classic, PLUS, DX2, and DXS. Also, our trailer, the PAH, can be rented. Already from a price of Fr. 20.- per day you can move with one of our vehicles. Click on the link below and you will be taken to our rental tool. There you enter the desired driving license category. The selection will be limited to legal models and maximum speeds. Now you can choose your model and select the rental period and location. The rental price will be calculated automatically.
